What’s the best way to get a copy of my credit from all 3 major reporting agencies?
bamagrits84 asked:
I’m confused. Should I purchase reports for each 3 agencies directly or should I use one of these other companies that let you buy all three? Doesn’t the fair credit act require a free copy be given to anyone who disputes something being reported?

I believe that everyone is entitle to one free copy every year. You should be able to get it straight from each agency. To the final question, I believe that should also get you a free copy, yes.

The best and most secure way is to go to your bank. If you are not appying for a loan they will charge you upto $15. If you are trying to get a loan and can’t because of the agencies reporting wrong, then a GOOD officer will tell you what to do and help you.
If yoou already know about the disputed item, then you take your proof (reciepts, bankrupcty papers, judgement rulings) and make 3 copies along with 3 copeis of your drivers license and ss card and a very brief letter of explination of the dispute and mail them to the three repositories. You ask for updates and a copy of your new report and score.
They have 10 days to respond and 30 days to reply. SEND ONLY COPIES NOT ORIGANALS AS YOU WILL NOT GET THEM BACK.
The fair credit law requires that this is free. If you put a rush on it, the carge can be upto $150.

You are able to get a free copy of your credit report from all three credit agencies one time per year at. You would have to pay to get your credit score, but at least you can get the reports free.

Once each year you can get your credit report free from.
There is an extra charge of about $6 to also get your credit score.
If you have applied for credit and been turned down, you should receive a letter in the mail that will describe how to get a credit report from the agency that provided information to the lender. The lender MAY give you a copy of the report if you ask.
Also, if you challenge any information in your credit report and it is changed or removed you will receive an updated copy.
There are other websites that require you to sign up for a monitoring service and provide your credit report and scores. Generally they are free for 30 days, then charge $10-20 per month. You can use that to get the free initial reports and scores. If you don’t want the monitoring, MAKE SURE you cancel in time

You are allowed a free copy of your credit report once a year!! If you have already used that the best way is to use one agency who lets you see all 3 credit monitoring angencies!! I suggest freecreditreport.com. Its about $13 a month, but you can also try it free for 30 days!!
